Goodbye for now.

14 Oct

Saying goodbye is never easy.

But today I wanted to let you know that after almost eight years as a Councillor in the London Borough of Redbridge I have taken the difficult decision to not seek re-election.

Since the start of the pandemic, I have been reflecting on my journey and in particular, all that we have achieved together.

I am proud to have been part of the first majority Labour administration in Redbridge for almost 50 years and to have helped deliver an ambitious manifesto for Redbridge. We delivered new swimming pools and leisure facilities, new libraries, we improved the standard of housing in our borough and we embarked on an ambitious regeneration programme to ensure we’re on a strong footing for years to come.

Eight years is a long time and I’ve always said that I don’t want to stick around forever. We should all recognise and embrace these moments when they come and look forward to the new adventures that lay ahead.

I am grateful to the Labour Party and our members for giving me the opportunity to be their Councillor and allowing me to serve the local community. I am also extremely privileged to have been able to represent our country as part of the UK’s delegation to the Council of Europe.

I will continue representing and serving the residents of Cranbrook until the next election in May 2022.

Thank you to everyone who has been involved in my campaigns and given me support over the years.
